Clinical Case-Study Submission Criteria

Selected cases will be presented for Interactive Discussion
Type of Clinical Case Study:
- Challenging care management problems
- Unusual complications or presentations of complications in sickle cell disease
- Unusual outcomes of standard management approaches to complications
- Cases that taught you new insights that should be shared with the sickle cell community
Case Study Category:
- Pediatric
- Adult
- Nursing
General Format Specifications:
- Describe only the most pertinent sequence of events, physical examination and the patient's progress and outcome. Be succinct and complete. Eliminate non-essential elements of the case. Limit to 5 minutes
- Lead a discussion of the clinical challenges presented by the case and what the audience would do or be thinking. About 10 minutes.
- Present your conclusions or management approach and outcome. Limit to 5 minutes.
- Vignettes can be no longer than 3,800 characters (one full page of text).
- May upload up to 2 figures or tables. Must be a JPG, GIH, or PNG file.
- May include up to 3 references.
General Instructions:
We will be using the audience response system to record the participants’ opinions on management. If your case is chosen for oral presentation, you should be prepared to work with the session chairs to make sure your presentation is appropriate for this format.
